I have reached an agreement with fellow Oppo shopteacher to sell the metro to him in order to use it as a rally-x machine. I have a plan to road trip from St. Louis to Chicago to deliver then work on the car with the new owner and then fly home.

This all started back in March when I purchased my wife a van and I got the hand me down Equinox which is a little safer, and not as much rust.

I was tempted to sell Equinox and keep daily driving the metro, but after grinding another 2nd gear Syncro I decided to switch to the Equinox for a little more room & some crumple zones that didn’t include my lower extremities.

I debated on Oppositelock wether to sell it or scrap it for a NEGITIVE value. Shopteacher & I started talking about what it is and if it would work for him as a tow ‘n go play car to keep the fun & repairs out of the full size wagon he has. We came to agreement & then the hard part of clearing it with our wives to purchase, or get away for the weekend.

The October 22 date has been set and a Oppo meet and wrench party is likely to be announced for Chicago area Oppos. for the trans swap to hopefully fix the syncros for the second gear.

Stay tuned if you want to get in on a dirty trans swap or just hang out for the day and heckle some guys who don’t know what we’re really doing.

Couldn’t have given it to a nicer guy. I may drive up to Chicago for the meet, it’s only a 3 hour drive from Indy.

And last night my dad & brother in law were giving me shit about not getting anything for the car (making profit), make sure I get wired the money before I leave, blah blah blah....

They aren’t car guys, and don’t really get it.

October 22 you say? I’ll speak with the wife and see if I/we can’t drive our CX-5 and some tools along for emergency-road-trip-support if you want. We usually Amtrak up there, but maybe we’ll risk a drive, depending what part of Chicago you’re headed to.

All I know is near O’hare.

I was just in Pontiac recently which is 3 of the 5 hours up there. I’m pretty sure it’ll make it. The only problem being is I am only going to be bringing a backpack for flight home, so I’m limited on tools to bring.

Hah, if they met shop-teacher, they would be so judgmental. Have you seen his dope scooter? He rose it over towards the end of Oppomeet 2016 so we could check it out. Moral of the story - shop-teacher is good people. And I wish he had been my shop teacher in high school.

That’s the nice thing about Amtrak, fewer luggage restrictions. If we’re able to go, you’re welcome to the backseat of the CX-5, better than flying coach!

I already bought a ticket for AMerican, but it should be interesting. I may drive up Friday evening. Haven’t decided yet.

Sounds great. There are details to be determined. I may drive up Friday afternoon after work, loaded with everything metro I have. Ther is a KOA campground an hour from his place.

I am leaving the details like this open for another week.
